Karen Kilimnik - The Royal Little Red Riding Hood print

This is a recent ebay find. I wanted to buy this print when it first became available at the Serpentine gallery in 2007, but finances did not allow at the time and it quickly sold out.
In the interim I have seen a couple of these sell, one for over £1000, so was very pleased to be the only bidder on this occasion, winning the print for barely over the original selling price - it's really nice!
Kilimnik’s print for the Serpentine, The Royal Little Red Riding Hood, is based on one of the artist’s recent paintings, with hand-applied glitter used to articulate the golden carriage in the foreground. The image reflects the artist’s fascination with fables and fairy tales, which are a recurring theme in her work.
This Serpentine Gallery Limited Edition represents a unique opportunity to collect Kilimnik’s work.

Alec Soth & John Gossage Limited Edition: The Auckland Project

Now available from Photoeye

"In the Spring of 2009, John Gossage and Alec Soth traveled together to New Zealand to work on a joint photography project. For both, it was a trip of departures. Gossage has been creating photographic literature in black-and-white for over 40 years, and this trip yielded one of the first bodies of work he had ever produced in color. Soth's work with the 8×10 view camera has inspired an entire generation of his contemporaries, and leaving it behind was key to approaching the world from a fresh visual perspective. The results represent a major shift of vision for these two vastly important American photographers.

Auckland Project
Limited Edition print by Alec Soth

This publication represents the culmination of that trip. Both the concept and the content of the book have been driven by the uniqueness of the collaboration and the primacy of the photobook to the artistic practice of both Soth and Gossage. Essentially two books in one, The Auckland Project showcases a playful attention to materials and presentation by presenting the two photographers' work separately but creatively combined through the device of the book and its housing." —the publisher

The Principle of Moments - Manadagur : 11.54
Framed c-print
Size of image: 4.3 x 6.5 cm
Size of frame: 33.1 x 22.1 cm
Signed by the artist
A photograph is available of every minute of every hour of the day over the course of a week, around the longest day of the year. Each photograph is a unique work. The purchaser is free to select the image that represents that minute.
£350
At first glance the print size of this edition makes no sense, but when seen in context of the installation it becomes clear.

Darren Almond’s ’Principle of Moments’, is a series of time-lapse photographs depicting the wild, green landscape of the Faroe Islands, close to the Arctic Circle.
A photograph was taken for every minute of every hour of the day over the course of a week, around the longest day of the year.

This coastline's extre+me geographical location means that it experiences very diverse weather. During this period the light barely disappears, but the extreme weather creates striking results: a mountain appears and then disappears, clouds create rain that then feeds the waterfall and the sun sinks behind the mountain so the sea is obscured by shadow.

At £350 I think I will pass on this one, it seems more interesting conceptually than as a thing to own.

Darren Almond - Yamal limited edition print

Newly released by the White Cube gallery a really nice looking print by Darren Almond. Edition is only 50, and I just ordered one, so only 49 left at most! Just £145, get yours here.

White Cube is pleased to present the release of 'Yamal' by Darren Almond. As a continuation of the artist's ongoing fascination with this part of the world, the image depicts a stretch of the most Northerly railtrack in the world – the Talnah-Norilsk-Dudinka railway, photographed in the harshest of winter conditions. It leads to the city of Norlisk on the cusp of the Artic circle. Originally a gulag, Norilsk is now predominantly an industrial city that mines large amounts of valuable ores in particular nickel. The tracks recede into the distance but the snow and wind soften its linearity, blurring the image so that it looks like a piece of found archival material.

UPDATE 8th Sept Price has increased to £200...

Catherine Opie LACMA limited edition print

Crenshaw High School is located in South Central Los Angeles and its marching band will receive a portion of the proceeds from each print.
- Edition of 120
- Signed and numbered by Catherine Opie on the front of the print
